CARE Provider Update Training

It takes a team with a coordinated, comprehensive medical response to protect Kansas children from abuse and neglect. In collaboration with Board-certified Child Abuse Pediatricians in Kansas, Child Abuse Review and Evaluation (CARE) Providers are specially trained to recognize abusive injuries and provide a medical evaluation for children under five years of age when abuse is suspected.

CARE Provider Update Training

This one-day training is an opportunity for providers who have already completed the two-day CARE Provider Training and are looking for continuing education to build upon their skills.

New CARE Provider Training

  • A CARE provider is a medical provider who has participated in the training provided by KAAP on child maltreatment, including recognition of abusive injuries and the medical evaluation for children when abuse is suspected.
  • CARE exams require additional time and expertise, therefore CARE Providers in the network will be compensated through KDHE $750 for each exam.
  • CARE Provider training is open to any physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner in Kansas.
  • CARE providers will receive mentoring from Board-Certified Child Abuse Pediatricians and a direct line of communication for support.
  • CARE training is free and includes, hotel room for attendees more than 30 miles away from the training, meals and mileage reimbursement.

The next new CARE Provider Training is scheduled for September 19 and 20, 2024, in Wichita. More Information will be available soon.
